I do many things in my life that I know aren’t OPiTiMaL. I sometimes skip sets when I’m training, I sometimes turn my dial down instead of up when I’m spinning and I sometimes only fake tan the upper half of my body (even though I know I’m going to look like half dipped chocolate biscuit in the morning.)⠀ ⠀ Regardless of the known outcome, I make these decisions because it’s my preference in the moment. And sometimes I get tired/lazy/drunk. 🙃🙃🙃⠀ ⠀ When you isolate two choices, one choice might be perceived as *best* but that doesn’t mean you’ll necessarily feel inclined to pick it. That’s how I feel about food 💃⠀ ⠀ It’s important to have an understanding of how different foods effect our health/bodies/mood in short and long term, but I also think it’s important to respect what you actually *want* in the moment too ❤️ Some foods are more beneficial for our health, and some foods are less so.⠀ ⠀ We don’t need to be hitting these ‘isolated optimals' all the time. Finding balance means including all foods you love, just potentially in different quantities 💫⠀ ⠀ But remember;⠀ You aren’t a bad person for choosing taste over nutrients.⠀ You don’t need to be ‘fixed’.⠀ You don’t need to CuT YouR CRaViNgs.⠀ Sometimes, you just want a biscuit. (Half-dipped chocolate ones preferably.)⠀ ⠀ #theFFF

'Healthy Breakfast' vs 'Naughty Snack' 🌝⠀ ⠀ Tomorrow is my @befitlondon_ talk alongside the man himself @danprice_639pt. Aside from the fact I genuinely feel sick w/ nerves, I’m so bloody excited to BUST SOME MYTHZZZ in real life with some of you. So while I distract myself, I thought I’d do a lil throwback of one of my fave #foodcomparisons – my unsponsored McVities ad:⠀ ⠀ On the left is a pack of Belvita Breakfast biscuits, on the right we have 4 digestive biscuits. One is marketed as a 'healthy breakfast' and the other is seen as a 'naughty snack.'⠀ ⠀ They're practically the same calories and macros, with the digestive biscuits being a fraction higher in protein and lower in sugar than Belvitas.⠀ ⠀ Yes, Belvita has an extra few micronutrients but only the equivalent to approximately 150g of spinach lol. Which one would hope you'd get from the rest of your diet anyway.⠀ ⠀ So yeah in short, buy Belvita if you enjoy them and they're working for you (#YouDoYou always 💕) but if you're only buying them because they're marketed as a 'healthy' breakfast, I'd argue you might find a better choice more suited to your goal.⠀ ⠀ (Digestives are also 60% cheaper #BargainLife)⠀ ⠀ #theFFF

Aestheticzzz + health are two very different things – but this doesn’t mean they’re mutually exclusive.⠀ ⠀ There’s more to food than the calorific value, like getting essential nutrients.⠀ And there’s also more to food than getting essential nutrients, like personal enjoyment + fun + stuff.⠀ ⠀ Finding a balance between all 3 is definitely possible, but it won’t always be found in single foods or meals. Look to create it through a combination of different foods across a day or week💃💃💃⠀ ⠀ So if you are chasing an #aesthetic goal, having a balanced diet which includes;⠀ ⠀ – More calorific, filling, nutrients-dense food can be useful (if it helps you create a deficit.)⠀ ⠀ – Less calorific, less filling, tasty af food can be useful (if it helps you create a deficit.)⠀ ⠀ There’s no right or wrong, or good or bad. Some foods will be more beneficial in their caloric value for body composition. Some foods will be more beneficial in their nutrient content for #wellness. And some foods will be more beneficial in taste for living your best life. 🙌 Do what works for you friends and don’t feel guilty about it.⠀ ⠀ p.s. After some requests, I’m going to bring it back 2017 style and chat a little more specific about different foods like this. (Because we’re all sensible enough to read captions now.) 🙂🙂🙂⠀ ⠀ #theFFF
